Cheryl Ferris, an aficionado of the Great American Songbook, has enjoyed an enduring career of singing with musical groups from combos to big bands. 

She combined her love of music with a decades-long career as an English teacher. So it is with great pleasure that she will present an evening celebrating the beauty of the words that accompany the melodies to some wonderful songs. Johnny Mercer was an American lyricist who wrote more than 1700 songs in his lifetime. Honored with 18 Oscar nominations for best original song, he collaborated with the likes of Henry Mancini, Harold Arlen, Harry Warren, Hoagy

Carmichael, and Jerome Kern, resulting in an impressive body of beloved musical numbers. Cheryl will share the stage with four stellar musicians. As you listen to them bring a varied selection of Mercer’s songs to life, you will be reminded of just why these pairings of lyrics and melody continue to resonate with such a vast audience.
